Apple Crisp

Our apple crisp recipe is perfect for this time of year with the fall season approaching! The mixture of Avalanche Swiss Original granola and brown sugar together is irresistible and not to mention super easy. This dessert is guaranteed to be a hit and definitely will not disappoint.


  • 6 apples
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 4 tablespoons corn starch
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 ½ cups brown sugar
  • 3 bags of Avalanche Swiss Original Granola
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 4 tablespoons coconut oil, melted
  • ½ cup butter, melted


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Peel apples and cut them into small pieces
  3. In a large bowl, mix together the apples, sugar, corn starch, salt, & cinnamon. You may need to let the fruit thaw for 5-10 minutes and stir until the remaining ingredients stick to the fruit. 
  4. In a separate bowl, mix together the brown sugar, Avalanche Swiss Original Granola, salt, coconut oil, and butter.
  5. Pour the fruit ingredients into a dish.
  6. Sprinkle the topping evenly over the top. 
  7. Bake are 350 degrees for 50-60 minutes, or until bubbling and the top starts to brown.
  8. Allow to rest for 10-15 minutes and then enjoy.

Blueberry Peach Crisp

Another summer favorite that tastes great served warm or cool, this irresistible dessert combines Avalanche Swiss Granola and frozen blueberries and peaches. It’s simple to make and will surely be a hit with friends and family.


  • 4 cups frozen peaches
  • 8 cups frozen blueberries
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 4 tablespoons corn starch
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 ½ cups brown sugar
  • 3 bags of Avalanche Swiss Original Granola
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 4 tablespoons coconut oil, melted
  • ½ cup butter, melted


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

No Bake Peanut Butter Avalanche Granola Cups

Who doesn’t love chocolate and peanut butter together? These no bake Peanut Butter Avalanche Granola cups are a perfect treat that are quick and easy to make. Whether you need to bring along a party favor, or just want to have something sweet to enjoy this recipe is amazing. Try this simple recipe that combines wholesome all-natural ingredients and our Avalanche Original granola. The result is a tasty treat the whole family can enjoy any time of the year.


  • 3 bags of Avalanche Original granola
  • 1 cup chopped peanuts
  • 4 Tablespoons peanut butter
  • 4 Tablespoons honey (or more if needed)


  • 1 cup peanut butter


  • 1 ½ cups dark chocolate
  • 1 Tablespoon coconut oil


  1. In a bowl combine Avalanche granola, chopped peanuts, peanut butter and honey. (If the mixture is too dry add more honey).
  2. Grease cupcake pan and divide the mixture in 12 cups. Press the mixture well to hold together and make a dent in the center of each cup. Freeze for 5-10 minutes, or until the cups are firm.
  3. Melt peanut butter and pour into the center of each granola cup. Freeze for 5-10 minutes, or until the cups are firm.
  4. Melt dark chocolate and coconut oil and spoon melted chocolate on top of the peanut butter. Freeze for 30 minutes or until the chocolate has set.
  5. Store in the fridge in an air-tight container, or freeze.

Avalanche Granola & Blueberry Muffins

Avalanche Granola & Blueberry Muffins make the perfect recipe to impress all your guests! Melt in your mouth muffins topped with the crispy crunch of Avalanche Swiss Granola- we dare you to just eat one! Throw a brunch, bring to a potluck, this recipe will never disappoint!



  • 1 Cup Flour
  • 1/2 Cup Sugar
  • 3 1/2 Teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Salt
  • 2 Pouches of the Original Avalanche Granola
  • 1 Cup Milk
  • 1 Egg
  • 1/4 Cup Vegetable Oil
  • 1 Teaspoon Vanilla
  • 1 Cup fresh or frozen Blueberries + 1 Tablespoon Flour


  • 1 Pouch of the Original Avalanche Granola
  • 2 Tablespoons of Flour
  • 2 Tablespoons of Brown Sugar
  • 1 Tablespoons Butter, softened (not melted)


  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix granola and milk, and let sit for five minutes.
  4. Pour granola mixture into dry ingredients. Add egg, vegetable oil, and vanilla, and combine.
  5. Toss the blueberries with 1 tablespoon of flour to coat (important if the blueberries are frozen.)
  6. Fold the blueberries into the batter.
  7. Prepare the streusel by combining all of the ingredients and mix until butter is incorporated.
  8. Fill the greased or lined muffin tins 2/3 full. (Batter will make approximately 18 muffins.)
  9. Divide streusel evenly among tops of muffins before baking.
  10. Bake for 18-20 minutes.

With the addition of Avalanche Granola you add heart healthy fiber, whole grains and a perfect crunch to this classic dessert.


  • 1 Cup Butter or Margarine
  • 3/4 Cup Sugar
  • 3/4 Cup firmly packed Brown Sugar
  • 2 Large Eggs
  • 1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1 3/4 Cups Flour
  • 1 Teaspoon Salt
  • 3 Teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 3 pouches of Avalanche Granola (any of your choosing)
  • 1 Cup Dark Chocolate Chips


  1. In a large mixing bowl; combine butter, sugar, and brown sugar and beat until creamy.
  2. Add eggs and vanilla, and beat until fluffy.
  3. Combine the flour, salt, and baking powder; add to creamed mixture and stir until blended.
  4. Stir in granola and chocolate chips. (For this recipe we used two pouches of the Coconut, Quinoa, and Chocolate granola, and one pouch of the original granola.)
  5. Drop heaping teaspoonfuls of the dough onto a non-stick baking sheet.
  6. Bake at 350 °F for 12 minutes or until golden brown.

Wintry & Warm Maple Pear Parfait Recipe

Avalanche Swiss Granola's Wintry & Warm Maple Pear Parfait Recipe

For the Maple Pears

  • 2pears, chopped
  • 1/2tsp cinnamon
  • 1-2Tbsp pure maple syrup
  • 2tsp coconut oil
  • 1/2tsp vanilla extract

For the Parfaits


  1. Start by adding the chopped pears, maple syrup, coconut oil, cinnamon, and vanilla extract to a skillet at medium- high heat.  Cook, stirring often, until the pears are tender, about 5 minutes.  Remove from heat.
  2. To assemble the parfaits, add 1/4 cup Avalanche Swiss Granola to the bottom of a glass jar.  Layer with 1/4 – 1/2 c. yogurt, 1/4 of the pear mixture, and another 1/4 – 1/2 c. yogurt.  Top with more pears and more granola to your liking.
  3. Enjoy it warm! Or refrigerate and enjoy tomorrow!

“I love teaching because I believe I am making a difference in the lives of my students. I love the feeling of seeing my students finally grasp a concept and want them to continue to make progress. Teaching is the profession that builds other professions. Teaching for the past 5 years has helped me become a lifelong learner who is highly adaptable because every day in the classroom is a new adventure!”

So you have been a teacher for 5 years- What are some of the hardest things you face?

Many of the families I work with come from low-income communities that lack resources. This often means that my students are behind academically despite strong support from their families. It also means that my students have varied experiences that affect their lives in both positive and negative ways. Bridging the gap between students’ current level and where they need to be is always difficult, but in my classroom, the gap sometimes feels wider and bridging it even more urgent. In any given classroom, there are 30 kids, which means 30 different learners, 30 different levels of resources, support, experiences, learning styles, abilities, and interests. Ensuring every child gets exactly what he or she needs to be successful is a huge challenge.

Did you always know you wanted to go into teaching?

I think I did. At a young age, when playing school or house with my siblings and cousins, I was always the teacher. I have always found myself drawn back to teaching or tutoring in some way. Though I majored in Creative Writing in college, I continued to tutor inner-city youth in math and founded an art class at a local community center during my four years. During this time, I began to view education through the lens of social justice. After I graduated, I taught English abroad in Taiwan for a year before joining Teach For America. I’ve somehow been teaching for the past 5 years. Time flies!

What grade do you currently teach?

I currently teach second grade. Throughout my experience in the classroom, I have taught kindergarten and second through sixth grade, but second grade is my favorite. Second graders are very curious. They ask a lot of (mostly relevant) questions and still get excited about learning. Teachers are still people they look up to as role models. At the same time, they are starting to become more independent. They can take more ownership of their learning and have more responsibilities in the classroom.

What is the most rewarding part about the career you have chosen?

My teachers played a big part in my success and were a huge support system for me throughout my education. As someone from a low-income background who did not necessarily have the same resources as my peers, being able to have the encouragement of my teachers truly changed the course of my life. I always felt like anything was possible, and I want that for my students as well. I want to be the person who inspires them to keep working, learning, and being persistent. I love seeing my students’ faces light up when they finally grasp a concept. There is no better feeling!

How do you use Avalanche Swiss Granola?

I keep bags of Avalanche Swiss Granola in my backpack and in my desk for on the go snacking. It helps me keep moving on those long days when I barely have time to sit down. It allows me to give my best to my students every single day.

If you weren’t teaching, what would you be doing?

I love writing, and my dream is to write a book someday. I don’t know exactly what that would look like, maybe a children’s book or possibly a novel. I’m not sure, but I think it would be a great, new adventure for me. I also love to travel, so being a travel writer or blogger while giving advice to teachers along the way would combine three of my passions.

Delicious Red Berry Avalanche Swiss GranolaOnce the ingredients were selected, master chef Hans Blume invested a significant amount of time experimenting with granola recipes, baking temperatures, and length of baking time. The end result was slow baking granola and varying the temperature. Avalanche Swiss granola is baked at FIVE different temperatures and is baked 2.5 times longer than most commercially available granola.
